The topic Financial Literacy is divided into four distinct sections - Spending; Saving; Borrowing and Protecting/Investing. Each section comprises of 6 individual lesson plans designed to suit one of the following levels: Primary, Junior Certificate or Leaving Certificate (including Transition Year, Leaving Certificate Applied and the traditional Leaving Certificate). In this section, you will find 11 fact sheets. Fact sheets offer background information on topics that are not already covered in the Financial Services unit, or are covered only briefly or, the content in that unit is not suitable for the age groups targeted in this module. Facts sheets are written in non-technical language. They can be used by teachers or adapted as information sources for students. Lesson plans

Lesson plans have been prepared by a national team comprising of expert teachers in their field, pedagogical experts and financial experts combining their knowledge to reach the objectives of teaching and learning financial literacy. Read more

Tools

A tool is a teaching and learning activity. Examples include, case studies, visits, crossword puzzles, role play, simulations, discussions, work sheets, cooperative learning, brainstorming, quizzes, articles / literature for students. Read more
