This module deals with financial services. When browsing through the different sections you will find information and advice on 6 topical areas of Financial Services. In Malta these are referred to as "Servizzi Finanzjarji".

Each section contains explanatory notes, practical examples and quizzes to assess your understanding on the different subject. There are also some links to other financial services websites in some sessions to provide further reference.

  • Consumer credit

    You plan to buy your dream car, you want to treat yourself to an exotic holiday for your birthday… but you don’t have enough money and you are considering taking out a loan or using credit. Is it reasonable thought? If so, where can you get a loan from, which type will you choose, how much will it cost, how will you pay it back... so many questions! This section will help you find the answers.

  • Managing a family budget

    You are struggling to make ends meet at the end of each month. You might have so many debts that you don’t know what to do. You would like to go on holiday but you don’t know if you can afford it. You want to have better control of your spending… This section aims at giving you some advice on how to manage, plan and control your budget.

  • Means of payment

    Cash, bank cards, cheques, E-money, Direct Debit,… although these means of payment sound familiar, how much do you really know about their rules, regulations and risks? Read more below.

  • Mortgages

    Buying a house or a flat is a huge commitment. This kind of expenditure usually requires that you take out a mortgage over a long period of time. The section on Mortgages will help you in asking the right questions so that you can make the most reasonable and suitable choice.

  • Running a bank account

    You must have one! A bank account that is. But what do you know about its functioning, ppening and closing down procedures, monthly statements, overdraft, cheque clearing? Once you have read the sections below, you will certainly know a lot more!

  • Savings & Investments

    You have a few savings and you would like to get some returns, but you don’t know what to invest in: savings account, bonds, shares, life insurance policy… You would like to know a bit more about the tax situation on these investments, you would like to invest "ethically"... This section will allow you to take stock of what is available and to make the correct choices, based on your personal means and needs.
