Consumer Education
The Maltese National Minimum Curriculum (NMC) (Ministry of Education, 1999) underlines the importance of knowledge for action when it addresses consumer education.

Objective 7 specifically states that schools should provide for Preparing Educated Consumers. It further explains that, on completion of their education in Maltese schools, students should be Informed Consumers who have adopted attitudes and acquired knowledge and skills for critically assessing information and making choices and behaviours which will benefit themselves, others and the larger community.
Thus, whilst Consumer Education should be an integral component of that educational foundation on which students begin to build their personal lives, and with which they can help to build a more sensitive, responsive and sustainable world, Consumer Education should also be part of the lifelong learning process.
