Cover your roof well so that the hot rays of the sun are reflected away, especially in the summer months.

Roofs can be painted with special light-coloured paints or reflective paints to reflect the sun’s rays and reduce heating of the rooms below. Avoid using dark colour coverings for rooftops.

Alternatively, one can create shade on the roof by using agricultural netting or a canopy of trailing plants or vines. These are very cost-effective measures.
