Safety marks

Every product available in the European Union should be safe.

There are a range of marks that are used to help consumers identify those products that have met certain safety standards.

This section of the website considers safety marks such as the CE mark and the Lion mark.

Introduction to safety marks

Safety marks certify that a product conforms with all the safety standards associated to that mark. There are several types of safety mark that you may find displayed on items, such as CE mark, Lion mark and Kite mark. Some marks are put on the product by the manufacturer and indicate that the product is manufactured in accordance with the safety requirements of the product. CE mark The CE mark shows that a product is made "in conformity with EC standards". It certifies that the product conforms to the standards established by the European Union for all the Member States. These standards guarantee the safety of products in the European market.
